The difference between oriented silicon steel and non-oriented silicon steel

Silicon steel sheets are divided into oriented silicon steel and non-oriented silicon steel. This article will briefly introduce the difference between oriented silicon steel and non-oriented silicon steel.

1. Different nature

Oriented silicon steel: Oriented silicon steel, also known as cold-rolled transformer steel, is an important silicon and iron alloy used in the transformer (iron core) manufacturing industry. Oriented silicon steel is mainly used for transformers.

Non-oriented silicon steel: Non-oriented silicon steel is a kind of ferrosilicon alloy with very low carbon content, which will produce irregular grain orientation during the deformation and annealing process of the steel plate. Non-oriented silicon steel is mainly used for motors.

Second, the characteristics are different

Oriented silicon steel: The grains of oriented silicon steel are basically oriented in one direction, so it is called orientation. Oriented silicon steel has strong orientation magnetism, the lowest iron loss in the rolling direction, and the highest magnetic permeability under a certain magnetic field. High magnetic induction value. The silicon content of grain-oriented silicon steel is about 3%, the oxide content in the steel must be low, and some inhibitors (MnS, A1N) must be included.

Non-oriented silicon steel: non-oriented silicon steel, the grain arrangement is disordered, so the heat loss of oriented silicon steel is small, and the heat loss of non-oriented silicon steel is large. Silicon steel sheets with a thickness of less than 1 mm. The addition of silicon increases the resistivity and maximum permeability of iron, and reduces coercivity, core loss (iron loss), and magnetic aging. Thickness, the thickness of oriented silicon steel is 0.23-0.35 mm, the thickness of non-oriented silicon steel is 0.35-0.65, the temperature rise of oriented silicon steel sheet is low, and the no-load temperature is about 40 degrees, which can greatly improve the efficiency of the transformer

Three, the production process is different

Oriented silicon steel: Silicon steel is smelted and oriented in an oxygen converter, and the billet is hot rolled, normalized, cold rolled, intermediate annealed, and cold rolled to the finished product thickness, followed by decarburization annealing, high temperature annealing, and finally coated with an insulating layer.

Non-oriented silicon steel: pre-desulfurization of iron, secondary desulfurization by adding Ca0+CaF: molten or rare earth elements and calcium during converter blowing. The boiled steel is decarburized and further desulfurized by vacuum treatment, and ferrosilicon, which is low in titanium and zirconium, is selected for alloying.
