CLEVELAND Grant Hill Jersey - The first half is in the books, and with it came a much needed win for the Tribe on Sunday, as the Indians topped the hated Yankees 5-3. Everything went right in a game that didn't start so well as Cleveland trailed early 2-0. They ended up getting a great outing from Trevor Bauer, got a shutdown inning in relief from Carlos Carrasco, and a save in the 9th without drama from Cody Allen. On offense, they did it with the long ball, as a two-run homer from Edwin Encarnacion and a solo shot from Michael Brantley in the 8th gave the Tribe the lead for good. They also got what's become routine, a great AB in the 8th by Jose Ramirez, who stole Joe Dumars Jersey second, went to third on an error, and scored on a shallow sac fly from All-Star Yan Gomes to extend the lead. We've got plenty of days to go over the first half and look ahead, but for now here's three takeaways from the teams' final game of the first half.1. Another Beautiful Day for Bauer Trevor Bauer was hit with a 92 degree day in which he had some i sues early, but he recovered and threw seven very good innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts. He threw 110 pitches, 74 for strikes, and he really had to work out of trouble for most of the afternoon until he got into a groove. While it was a no-decision for Bauer, he ends the first half with a mark of 8-6 with an ERA of 2.24. He'll be needed to have another big second half for the Tribe.Scroll to Continue2. Carrasco in Relief The Indians announced on Wednesday that starter Carlos Carrasco would shift to the bullpen if needed for the weekend series against the Yankees, and on Sunday manager Terry Francona decided he was needed. The team went to him in the 8th inning, and he dominated the Yankees with a 1-2-3 inning with a pair of strikeouts, setting down Gio Stanton and Aaron Hicks with Isiah Thomas Jersey strikeouts. One has to wonder how Terry Francona is going to handle the pen in the second half of the season if the team doesn't get at least one or two quality arms. Don't get too excited, Christian Laettner Jersey Carrasco is heading right back to the starting rotation, but it's interesting to think about the options the team might have if they sprinkle some of their starters into the bullpen.3. First Half in the Books The Tribe sits at 52-43, and they are in clear control of the AL Central, but let's be real - this team is not a finished product and needs work. There's going to be some moves made, no question about it, as they will look for a couple pen arms, and po sibly also look for an outfielder. This hasn't been the easiest first half, as the team has a first month when the offense couldn't hit, and then when they started to hit, the bullpen went in the tank. Right now it's safe to say they are probably the Jerry Stackhouse Jersey 4th or 5th best team in the American League, behind the likes of the Red Sox, Yankees, Astros and po sibly the Mariners. Again it's not a stretch to think this is about where they were last season, but we saw where they ended up last year and here's hoping they make the moves to do that again.
