World of Warcraft: How To Get to Darkmoon

To be eligible for an Darkmoon Game Prize, which includes a [Darkmoon Prize Ticketand an additional prize

Silas Darkmoon has organized the Darkmoon Faire, or the Darkmoon Theater Troupe, a large group of activities in the southern part of Darkmoon Island. The faire is open every Sunday from 3:00 AM realm time. It lasts one week. The island's players are automatically teleported back to Elwynn Forest/Mulgore at the end of the week.

Prior to patch 4.3.0, the Darkmoon Faire could be found at three different locations outside Goldshire located in Elwynn Forest, outside Thunder Bluff in Mulgore and in the outskirts of Shattrath City in Outland's Terokkar Forest.

To be eligible for an Darkmoon Game Prize, which includes a [Darkmoon Prize Ticketand an additional prize, guests can go through daily quests that are tied to each sideshow game. Every game requires a "Darkmoon Game Token] which is purchasable from vendors scattered throughout the faire. Prize tickets and tokens are also rewarded from once-per-faire profession-specific quests, which grant 5 additional skills in the chosen profession. Tickets for prizes are used to purchase pets, mounts as well as vanity items, heirlooms, and replica armor for use in transmogrification. There's also a carousel to boost reputation and experience.

Transferring to and from the Faire

The Darkmoon Faire celebrates the unusual and strange. Silas Darkmoon gathers exotics from across the globe to host the Darkmoon faire, which celebrates the wonders and mysteries of Azeroth. The fair is primarily its time in unexplored locations however, it is occasionally accessible by using portals in Mulgore and Elwynn Forest.

Darkmoon Island can be reached through the Darkmoon Faire Staging Grounds portal. It is located close to one of the major cities.

AllianceAlliance

The Alliance Darkmoon Faire Staging Grounds are in Elwynn Forest, just south of the intersection in Goldshire, which in turn is just down the road from Stormwind.

HordeHorde

Mulgore is just southwest of Thunder Bluff, and the Darkmoon Faire Staging Grounds are for the Horde. They're reachable without flying using the western lift to the city.

Players can speak to the Mystic Mage of the Darkmoon Faire in any major city to request an teleport. They will charge a small fee and vary depending on your level. Once on the Island, the Darkmoon Path leads down the ridge to the Faire to the south, and there are mounts available for those who are low level for standard riding.

Players need only travel to the southernmost part of the island, to the Darkmoon Boardwalk which is where there is a "Portal Back" is located under a tiny tent. The portal takes players back to the grounds for the staging in either Elwynn Forest or Mulgore, dependent on the their faction. A similar portal is located at the beginning of the Darkmoon Path for players who arrive on the island and remember they forgot something (such as items needed for different professions available during the Faire).

Darkmoon Faire Tickets

The Darkmoon Faire Prize Ticket is an instrument of exchange that can be traded in for valuable items during Darkmoon Faire. Tickets are earned by completing repeatable quests, making certain animal parts or by purchasing particular items made with Engineering, Leatherworking, or Blacksmithing.

You do not need to be an engineer, a leatherworker or blacksmith in order to sell these products. It is not necessary to create these items by your own. Alts can make these items for you or you can even buy them from the Auction House. These quests are repeatable and don't need you to finish them every day, so you can submit as many of them as you wish during the Faire.

These turn-in quests are NOT profession quests. They require certain items that are made by professions, but you receive no benefit making these items yourself.

Earning Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets (and Reputation)

Tickets are earned through an assortment of turn-in quests to NPCs.

Every quest is categorized into one of five levels, and every tier:

Each turn-in is rewarded with a set number of tickets and 100 Darkmoon Faire points.

There is a minimum requirement to complete

There's a limit at which point you cannot return the tier to gain reputation. The quest will cease completely and you won't be able to redeem those items once more.

Differences between Retail and Classic

In Retail Carnies, all of them remain employed by Darkmoon Faire, but have diverse jobs. Yebb Neblegear runs the Petting Zoo and gives the Blacksmithing job quest. Kerri Hicks gives the quest for 250 Grisly Trophies. Rinling manages the Shooting Gallery and offers the professional quests to Engineering, Leatherworking, and Mining. Chronos supervises the profession quests of Herbalism, Jewelcrafting and Skinning. He has recently retired as a supervisor of the First Aid quests and it leaves one wondering who manages carnie health care.

Spending Darkmoon Faire Tickets

There are 9 items you can buy using tickets. Some of the items worth mentioning are the 50-ticket Darkmoon Storage Box, a 14-slot backpack that can be purchased as early as level 6 (unfortunately it isn't unique, which means you can only purchase one), and two items with a ticket price of 1200-tickets.

These can all be purchased via Gelvas Grimegate (Elwynn Forest /way 41.5, 68.9, Mulgore, and /way 37.3, 37.7) for the required amount of tickets. The items can only be bought at a specific level.

Minor Darkmoon Prize can contain green armor of the 20-25 range, 10-slot bags, and assorted gems. The lower Darkmoon Prize may contain green armor in the 35-45 range. It can also include 12 slot bags and various gems. Greater Darkmoon Prize may contain green armor, a handful of weapons, recipes, and assorted gems, and some weapons from the 50-55 range.

There are differences between Classic and Retail

In Retail there are over 200 items through tickets, which include heirlooms pets, transmogs, toys, recipes, garrison music rolls, and other things. In Classic there were just 9 possible items, only 2 of which made it to Retail: Darkmoon Flower and Darkmoon Storage Box (which is 14 slots in Classic instead of 16 slots in Retail).

Darkmoon Decks and cards

Collecting complete decks of Darkmoon Cards can result in the four trinkets that are valuable. Each requires a level 60 level to be equipped and is unique. All have cooldowns.

The act of turning in decks can earn you 150 reputation in Darkmoon Faire

The decks can be constructed through the collection of eight cards (Ace through Eight) of each card type to make a deck. In each deck, the 2-8 cards are randomly dropped off the levels 45-60 Undead and Humanoids. These cards aren't soulbound and are able to be traded or sold at the Auction House. The finished trinkets are soulbound.

Fun and Games: The Human Cannonball and Tank Battle Simulator

Fairs would not be complete without games. Darkmoon Faire offers two games to keep you entertained.

Reminder: in Classic, games do not award prizes. It's all about having enjoyment! You can compete with your friends and your enemies.

The Humanoid Cannonball

Blastenheimer Ultra Cannon 5000 launches Fairegoers up into the air in pursuit of an object! Hit the target or take the punishment...

Blastenheimer Cannon launches brave fairegoers towards a watery target south from the Fairegrounds. In Mulgore, the location is right beyond Bloodhoof Village. In Elwynn, it is situated in the river that runs between Elwynn Forest and Darkshore. You'll be safe and proud when you cross it. If you miss ... you die. To avoid costly repairs from misses in jumps, it's best to take off your broken armor and weapons before going into the cannon.

You must run either way There isn't a handy teleporter to get you back to the Faire or to the cannon.

Maxima Blastenheimer is the leader of the Blastenheimer Ultra Cannon 5000. Maxima as well as the cannon can be found in the following locations:

Elwynn Forest: inside the Faire grounds, /way 44.6, 70.3

Mulgore: In Thunder Bluff, on the main rise. It's right between Trade Goods and Supplies and Kuruk's Goods. There is the Darkmoon Faire banner marking the spot for the road to pass between the tents. /way 41.2, 67.4

(It is worth noting that Selina Dourman, Darkmoon Faire Information maven, gives incorrect directions to Thunder Bluff's location. She claims that the cannon is on Thunder Bluff's Hunter's Rise, but this isn't correct.

The Blastenheimer Cannon launches daring fairgoers toward a watery target south of the Fairegrounds. These are the places that you should aim for when the cannon blasts.

Elwynn Forest: In the river that runs between Elwynn Forest, Darkshore.

Mulgore: Just outside Bloodhoof Village.

You're secure and you'll are a celebrity in the event that you hit the target. If you do not ... you hit the ground and then die. It's best to remove your broken armor and weapons prior to getting into the cannon to avoid repair bills from the missed jumps!

After you've completed your flight, you will be required to get back. There is no handy teleporter that can take you back to the cannon or towards the Faire.

Simply follow the cannon and click to activate it. (The staircase is blocked by a purple velvet rope).

Magic Wings is a buff which can be obtained by being blasted in the air.

Tank Battle Simulator

Test your tank commander skills using your Darkmoon Tonk, to destroy Tonk targets.

To play, you'll have to locate Tonk Control Consoles in the Faire. They are tiny, metal boxes that are gold-trimmed and can be found near the fair's rail fences.

To summon a radio-controlled tone Click one. The Steam Tonk is 100 Health and 100 Mana. It is available for 5 minutes, until they're defeated or have left their zone. These can be used to pit your tonk against other players' instead of the computer-controlled. Your Tonk has four abilities that are visible at the top of your main bar.

The PvA Deathmatch is held each day for 3 hours (00:00 03:00, 00:00 and so on) at the Deathmatch Ring, the large structure that is located in the southern part of the faire.

The Deathmatch is an open-ended game that lasts until someone finds the chest in the middle of the circle. During the event, every other participant is your opponent and is able to attack you regardless of whether they're Alliance or Horde. Only the members of your group are permitted to appear as friendly. It takes 8 seconds for opening the chest. Anyone is able to interrupt you. It is nearly mandatory to join a group to open the chest. This allows you to remain safe while opening it.

To get in, open the gate of the Deathmatch Ring, which is located right next to Korgol Crushskull at the entrance of the building.

When you empty the chest, you are rewarded with Pit Fighter Icon Pit Fighter, an item level 37 tanking trinket. This item begins the Pit Fighter quest. You can get the Master Pit Fighter quest by giving it back. You must win the Deathmatch 12 times in order to finish the second quest. Once you have completed this task you will be awarded with Master Pit Fighter Icon Master Pit Fighter, an item at level 37, a tanking trinket.
