Siemens in UK launches automated car rental scheme with Enterprise

The car rental market size was valued at $82.1 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.6% during 2023-2026. The car rental (hiring of a passenger vehicle for self-drive, which includes cars and small vans, by both business and leisure travelers

Through Enterprise, Siemens UK has launched an automated car rental program for its employees. Over 15,000 employees have access to more than 1,400 on-street vehicles in 200 locations across the UK under the scheme. Additionally, Siemens offices all over the country already have dedicated car club vehicles on-site.

The number of pool cars that Siemens UK uses in its fleet is expected to decrease as a result of the on-site program.

Through the Car Rental Market, employees book trips with a Siemens credit card and the company's travel management system keeps track of each trip.
Wayne Warburton, the head of mobility services for Siemens UK, stated: Due to Enterprise's highly regionalized network, the possibility of extending car club access throughout the entire organization alongside the dedicated vehicle program makes sense.

"They’re the only rental car company that could successfully deliver this magnitude of initiative and assist us in managing the current pressures on the acquisition of new vehicles," The program achieves our sustainability objectives without affecting the business-critical journeys employees must make to locations like wind farms because so many of Enterprise's on-street vehicles are low- or zero-emission.
