Jacob Co. are known for their quirky designs, so it makes sense that they've had a number of previous collaborations with Bugatti, although the results haven't always been to everyone's taste. The case shape is based on the aesthetic of an actual supercar, but while the car is sleek and well-proportioned to maximize speed and aerodynamics, the watch is slightly chunky and snub-nosed. The case is made of 18k white gold and set with over 400 gemstones - 190 baguette-cut diamonds, 169 baguette-cut black sapphires (case and crown) and 42 baguette-cut orange sapphires. I do have to take my hat off, the texture formed by the geometric paving looks very attractive, but for any watch with this amount of jewels.
As with cars, however, it's what's under the hood that really matters. Thanks to various skeletonized features and clever bridge suspensions, the watch retains its motor, the Jacob Co. hand-wound JCAM37 movement, in solid display. It has a 60-hour power reserve, a tourbillon and ample shock protection to keep it running, all of which we've come to expect from a replica watches for sale with this movement.
The watch's party decoration is its miniature replica of the Bugatti Chiron engine, clearly visible at 6 o'clock. Technically, it is an addition to the movement, controlled by one of the buttons. It uses its own power reserve so it does not interfere with the basic functions of the watch. When it's on, 16 pistons are activated by the crankshaft, replicating the activity of an internal combustion engine, and are also connected to two "turbochargers", which spin to further emphasize the similarity to the car (although the car has four turbochargers) .
